Friday Update – Giving Thanks

Nov 24, 2017

Welcome to a round up of the week. Our release weekend for Dead of Winter is in full blast, we have exciting upcoming tournaments, and more:

Dead of Winter

Dead of Winter’s release celebration is in full swing! Note that this celebration will run until the 27th, so you still have a few days to enjoy this special 8-8-8 limited format before it disappears. For those of you who want to dive into the nitty-gritty, our release patch notes for PC and PS4 are up for your review as well. We also had a series of hotfixes earlier this week to improve your Dead of Winter experience. The latest patch notes can be found here for both PC and PS4.

Don’t forget that there is also a special sleeve for anyone who enters three Evolving Sealed Gauntlets! Show your opponents your cool moves with the official Dead of Winter sleeve!

Mmmm, Bruiseberry.

For specific tournament details, you can read more about the 2018 series on the official FiveShard’s site.

HEX Singles Night

We are always thrilled when community members take the time and energy to throw tournaments for everyone. This kind of endeavor shows not only your own interest, but also an impressive dedication towards making something a reality. This is why we are pleased to announce that we have been in talks with Funktion (who along with Pandemica has been hosting the HEX Frenzy) to introduce some more exotic formats for you all to enjoy in-client.

Our first offering is Singles Night, for the enterprising deck builder. Singles Night is an exciting format where you may only use one copy of each card, forcing you to be creative and think outside the box to craft the consistent decks it will take to win. Here are the details:

Format: Standard Singleton Constructed
Cost: 100 Platinum
Pairings: 3 Rounds – Swiss
Rewards:

  • 1 Win: 1x Random Standard Rare
  • 2 Wins: 1x AA Witch of the Wishing Well; 1x Random Standard Rare
  • 3 Wins: 1x AA Witch of the Wishing Well; 1x Most Recent Set Pack; 1x Random Standard Rare
Witch of the Wishing Well AA

These tournaments will be held on Tuesdays in December (starting December 5th), at 11AM PT [Local Time Zone] and 6PM PT [Local Time Zone]. In subsequent months, they will follow the rotating schedule we’ve established for our weekly events, moving to Wednesdays in January, Thursdays in February, etc.

We hope you enjoy this new format! Be sure to let us know what kind of deck you plan to bring in the forums below.

Community Cheer

Speaking of community members going the extra mile, we want to shout out the efforts of BroomBot and Plotynus. They both have been stepping up to create great resources that can benefit everyone. Broombot, for example, has started the BCB, a community-run gold exchange. If you need to buy or sell gold, they provide a guaranteed option for anyone to take advantage of. It is a pretty cool project, and you should definitely check it out the next time you want to grab some Kismet’s Packs or spin some chests.

Plotynus, on the other hand, has been gathering together a tutoring system for new players. If you’ve ever wanted to make some new friends and help out people just dipping their toes into the game, this is a good place to start. Check it out!

And to everyone out there who has taken it upon themselves to build up part of the community and make a positive change, you have our sincere thanks. HEX would not be the same without your passion and enthusiasm. Keep on being awesome!

For full details on prizing, please check out our tournament pages here and here.

Tournament Support

Please note: if you happen to have technical issues with the Clash or Bash events, our support team requests that you submit an output log from that same day along with your ticket. This is essential, not only to ensure your ticket gets resolved in a timely fashion, but also to help us prevent similar problems from occurring in the future. Output, error, and crash logs can be found in the HEX: Shards of Fate program install folder on your machine.

Lore Locked

Finally, we have a new article/video series that aired on Thursday. In Lore Locked, MrSeriousBsns is going to be creating fun PvE decks that explore the lore of Entrath, one brew at a time. His first deck dives into our latest Kismet Pack and the dark Vampire clans which roam the night. It’s a good watch, so be sure to take a look!

See you in the battlegrounds~
