Hey everyone! Dino here with a special Friday Update for you all.
It’s hard to believe that July is almost over. We’re half-way through 2016 and it has already been an epic year for HEX. In a moment, I am going to give you a small glimpse at where we are headed. But before I do, I thought it would be valuable to take a quick look at how far we’ve come. Here are just some of the things we have accomplished in 2016:
Pretty impressive, right?
I know many of you have been speculating on the forums about what’s on the horizon, so today I am going to give you a peek: Set 5 is currently scheduled to be our next major content update. At HEX we are committed to providing the best digital TCG experience possible. Regular, new sets are a major and necessary part of that experience.
So what does this mean for our Campaign players? It means that our Campaign team has a little more time to refine the sweet new content coming with Adventure Zone 2. In fact, I can give you a taste of what they have been cooking right now.
Some of you lore hounds might have recognized references to different parts of Entrath that are hidden in our flavor text. Here are two I’ve always found intriguing:
“The Great Machine Graveyard contains mountains of discarded robot parts. Many have to convince themselves that what they find is what they need.” –from Crazed Rummaging
“Occasionally, a rummager gets lost in the Great Machine Graveyard and dies of starvation before they manage to find their way out.” –from Careful Rummaging
It paints a picture, doesn’t it? Just how did we end up with those mountains of metal? If it’s so dangerous, why do people keep wandering in? And are those reddish flakes rust… or dried blood? For those who want a thousand words more on the subject, feast your eyes on this:
The Great Machine Graveyard is an explorable dungeon where you will get to take a walk on the wild side with a pack of Gnolls who have taken up residence in these mounds of rotting metal. There you will battle it out with Scutt, the chieftain of the Scraptooth Clan. We’ve talked about some of the lore behind this dungeon previously, so today we’d like to show you some of the denizens who live in this mangled monstrosity.
This guy really lives up to the title of “scavenger.” As the battle goes on, he is going to reuse and recycle to try and reduce you to a cowering pile of surrender. But like any pack animal, he’s not going to go at it alone. Let’s take a look at some of his friends:
Both the Giggling Scavenger and the Carrion Raider start out small, but as soon as bodies hit the floor they begin to show their wild side. If you don’t want them using you for spare parts, you’d best make sure to bring a plan. In a war of attrition, the side that uses its resources best wins.
I hope you enjoyed this sneak peak of our upcoming Campaign content. Stay tuned for more HEX info in the following weeks. And if you’d like to stay up to date on our latest development goals, I recommend you check out the new Roadmap on the forums. Development is a dynamic process (I can’t stress that enough) and this roadmap may change as the code flows, but we wanted to give you a place you could go to check out the latest thing on our radar.
Finally, we are granting a free weekly draft to the Raid Leader and Guild Master Kickstarter tiers until their tier bonus is implemented in the game client. Without you, we couldn’t have gotten this far. We hope you’ll bear with us until we can realize the full vision we have for HEX.
