ValueCity has won his spot to play for the $100,000 in prizes at the HEX Invitational
You just won the HEX IQ and will be going to California to play for the grand prize of $40,000. What went through your mind right after the final game?
I immediately started singing “The OC” theme song: “California here we come!“ (even though I’m a terrible singer)
What are your thoughts now?
I’m really excited to get to travel to California and to compete in the invitational. Now I have a lot of practicing and analysis to do, in order to maximize my chances in the finals.
What is it that you love about HEX?
The art, the design, the concept. Pretty much everything.
What makes you launch the game and battle it out with your fellow HEXers?
Mostly the thrill of competition. Trying to outplay or to outsmart my opponent gives me goosebumps and the excitement of winning a close match feels very rewarding.
What does HEX mean to you?
It’s a great source of entertainment for me. It can be a way to relax after a long day of work, or it can let you measure your skills versus tough opponents.
If you were to win the HEX Invitational in February, what would you do with the grand prize?
Since I’m basically done with my masters, I wanted to take some time of to travel, and the grand prize would help out significantly with that plan.
Could you tell us a little about the deck that carried you to victory in the HEX IQ?
The deck I choose to play was a Wintermoon deck. It is one of the decks with the highest skill caps, and I wanted to pilot a deck where I felt like I had the most influence over my own fate.
Where can people watch you play?
Unfortunately, I’m not streaming at the moment, so currently there is no way people could watch me play.
Do you have a message to your fellow HEX IQ winners? Why do they need to be on the lookout for you?
I’m looking forward to meeting my fellow competitors and I hope that we can have an exciting series to battle out the first world champion!
